Having a a Talent is not enough. Nurturing that talent, adding other skills that are necessary is the vehicle that’ll ensure you have the success you need. Using the biblical Esau and Jacob as examples, Otabil Mensah in ‘Buy the Future’ drives this point home and backs it up with scriptural references.

Buy the Future connotes doing everything within your skillset to secure your future now, and never to sell off anything of personal value in a moment of desperation.

Esau had just come back from an hunting expedition and was exceedingly hungry. If you’re familiar with the story, you know how it ends. He sells off his birthright to Jacob for a pot of venison, and eventually loses the blessings from his Father because he didn’t nurture and make innovations on his talent.

The book is divided into eleven (11) chapters, each captioned distinctly, and dishing out lessons in the end. The Chapters include; Chapter 1 – A tale of two paradigms, Chapter 2 – A Field Man and the Tent Man, Chapter 3 – Who is stronger?, Chapter 4 – The Hungry Hunter, Chapter 5 – Jacob Negotiates with Prepared Stew, Esau Negotiates on Empty Stomach, Chapter 6 – Do you understand what you just signed?, Chapter 7 – The Real Cost of Jacob’s stew, Chapter 8 – Don’t go too far for your Goats, Chapter 9 – The Blessing of the Birthright, Chapter 10 – Esaus with Has Attitudes, Chapter 11 – When Esaus become Jacobs.

This book is not a motivational book. It’s a wake up call to the dormant minds waiting for some sort of manna to fall on their laps, to get up and improve on their skillset, personal growth, mindset so that they could secure the future they’ve always sought for. Written in simple parlance, the author does not leave any stone unturned. Every angle is considered so that the reader will not just relate to it, but will understand the point given.

If you need a book to give you a push for the new week, this book will be the perfect read.
